Nikoren Monastery

A spiritual abode in the heart of Moldova's nature

The Nicoreni Monastery is located in the village of Nicoreni , approximately 180 km from Chisinau . The monastery occupies a picturesque area with green forests and quiet paths, ideal for pilgrimage and spiritual relaxation .

The monastery was founded by Archimandrite Raphael Baudiu in the summer of 1992. The monastery is located on the site of a former children's camp, built in 1975 and closed in 1991 .

Monastery complex

The Nicoreni Monastery complex consists of two groups of buildings that fit harmoniously into the natural landscape.

The main buildings remaining from the camp were renovated and consecrated in 1994 .
The former dining hall was converted into a church dedicated to Our Lady of Portarita , where monks hold regular services. The church also provides accommodations for monks and pilgrims coming from all over the country and beyond.
In 1993, construction began on a summer church dedicated to the Holy Prophet Elijah . The temple is planned to be two-story, with three altars on each level , making it a unique architectural structure in the region.

Library and spiritual life

The Nicoreni Monastery is famous for its library , which includes religious literature, canons and liturgical books , useful both for spiritual education and for preparing for divine services.

The monastery is also the center of spiritual life in the region: daily services, prayers, and pilgrimage services are held here , and the monks help preserve the traditions of the Orthodox faith.
