World Tourism Day was established by the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization in 1979 in the Spanish city of Torremolinos.

The purpose of the holiday is to promote tourism, highlight its contribution to the global economy, and develop ties between peoples of different countries.

This is a celebration for anyone who has ever felt like a traveler, escaping the daily grind to a riverbank, a forest, a field, or other places our land is so rich in! Forward, to uncharted heights.

And, of course, this is a celebration for those directly involved in the tourism industry: employees of travel agencies, museum workers, hotel managers and staff—everyone who professionally ensures a comfortable and safe vacation.

The holiday has been celebrated in most countries of the world for over 30 years.

On this day, tourist gatherings, festive events, and festivals dedicated to tourism and the tourism business are held.

Interestingly, the world's first travel agency was opened in 1841 by Thomas Cook.
