On June 10, border guards of the Republic of Moldova celebrate their professional holiday.
Border Troops Day was established in the Republic on the basis of Presidential Decree No. 162 of May 27, 1995.
A year earlier, on May 17, 1994, the Parliament of Moldova adopted the “Law on the State Border of the Republic of Moldova”, which came into force on November 3, 1994.
According to the Law, the Border Service represents the interests of the state at the State Border and is responsible for the implementation of international treaties (agreements) and legislation regarding the State Border. The formation of the Moldovan Border Troops began in 1992.
The basis for this was Decree No. 400 of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, adopted on June 15, 1992, which established the Border Troops of the Republic of Moldova. Since then, the number of troops has been determined by the Government of the Republic.
The Border Service is a central sectoral public administration body, part of the state security system, ensuring the implementation of state border policy, the protection of the interests of the Republic of Moldova at the State Border, the organization of the border protection service and the legality of its crossing at established checkpoints.
Green symbolizes trust, which is probably why it's so strongly associated with border guards—professionals entrusted by the Motherland to protect its borders.
It should also be noted that recently the country's authorities have been doing a lot to equip border troops with modern equipment, such as purchasing voltage stabilizers that ensure the smooth operation of customs posts.
The difficult task of protecting the state border requires, above all, high moral qualities, the ability to selflessly sacrifice, and, most importantly, clear motivation and devotion to the country and the people from everyone who takes part in it.
Moldovan Border Service veterans are members of the International Union of Public Associations of Border Service Veterans (Pensioners), where they actively work to foster patriotism and love for the Motherland in the younger generation, and to strengthen and expand ties between border guards and local government officials.
