Crama Mircesti is a winery with a modern approach and unique terroir.

Mircesti Winery is located in the village of the same name in the Ungheni district and, in a relatively short time, has become a shining example of Moldova's small wineries . Although the winery has only been around for a few years, it has already earned a reputation as a place where winemaking traditions blend with innovation and experimentation , creating wines with character and individuality.

Historical context and architecture

The region, particularly the village of Mircesti, is historically significant for Moldovan winemaking . Grapes have been grown here for centuries, and the local terroir has produced rich and balanced wines.

The winery was founded by its owner, Arkadie Fosnea , who not only laid the foundations for production but also undertook the restoration of the adjacent mansion , preserving its unique architectural features, creating the atmosphere of a traditional Moldovan manor house , perfectly combined with modern technological equipment.

Modern technologies and innovations

The Mircesti plant is equipped with modern systems for quality control and work optimization:

  • Weather station for monitoring weather conditions;

  • Drones for inspecting vineyards and detecting diseases;

  • application of advanced pruning and vine care strategies ;

  • participation in the "Best Grapes" project , the purpose of which is to study optimal methods of growing grapes in the conditions of the national terroir.

This integration of modern technologies allows the winery to combine a scientific approach with practical skills , creating the conditions for producing high-quality grapes.

Vineyards and terroir

The winery boasts 15 hectares of vineyards , located on slopes with inclinations of up to 30° , with southern, eastern, and northern exposures. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 340 meters above sea level , making them among the highest in Moldova .

According to Arkady Foshnya, this microzone offers unique conditions for growing grapes:

  • The soils are moderately fertile, which promotes concentration of flavor;

  • Sunshine hours - 3200 hours per year, similar to the southern regions of the country;

  • Acidity and humidity - high acidity, typical of the northern regions, and over 650 mm of rainfall per year, creating an optimal balance for harmonious wines;

  • The variety of slope exposures – southern, eastern and northern sides – ensures a variety of microclimates and a variety of grape varieties.

These factors make the wines of Crama Mircesti rich, structured and with a distinct personality , capable of competing with the best Moldovan and European examples.

Experimental and educational center

In addition to production, Crama Mircesti has become a platform for experimentation and educational events . The winery hosts demonstrations of vineyard care methods, tastings of new varieties, and seminars for winegrowers and winemakers. The "Best Grapes" project allows for the study of the response of various varieties to local climate conditions and the application of acquired knowledge, making the winery an innovative center of Moldovan winemaking .

Mircesti Winery is a unique blend of tradition, science and innovation , where each bottle of wine reflects the terroir, climate and winemaker's skill , while the vineyards at an altitude of 340 metres add strong character, structure and unique aroma to the wines .

The Mircești winery was recently equipped with a meteorological data collection station, and staff are using modern drone-based techniques to prune vines and check for diseases. The Mircești winery is also home to experiments and wine demonstrations as part of the "Better Grapes" project, which aims to identify optimal grape growing practices in the national context.

The 15 hectares are located on slopes with inclinations of up to 30°, with southern, eastern, and northern exposures, at an altitude of 340 meters, making them one of the highest vineyards in Moldova. According to the winemaker, this microzone offers very favorable conditions for growing quality grapes: not very rich soils, 3,200 hours of sunshine per year, similar to southern regions, but with high acidity, typical of the north, and high humidity with over 650 mm of annual precipitation.

The winery's maximum production capacity is 50,000 bottles per year, using prized local and European grape varieties. The wines will be premium, terroir-focused.
