The Romanovka Legacy
The town of Romanovka (now Basarabeasca) was founded in 1846 by the Jewish community and was named in honor of the Romanov Royal Family.

In 1866, 57 Jewish families established in Romanovka were deprived of their arable land. As a result, approximately 400 people were forced to start another business, one related to wine.
In the early 1900s, the Romanovka region developed rapidly, and by 1913, industrial grape processing had begun. Accordingly, in addition to the existing steam-powered wineries in Romanovka, a winery was built with two primitive molding machines drawn by horses.
In 1939, the first wine cellar was built, with a capacity of 40 oak barrels, where wine was stored and matured into fine wine. That same year, two electric crushing machines were used for the first time in grape processing. This marked the beginning of the mechanization of viticulture and winemaking in Romanovka.
Bazarabeysk region
Nature could not have conceived a better location for grape cultivation: the vineyards are located 75 km from the Black Sea, on sunny hillsides rich in clay soils that reach minerals, resulting in the production of wine of unique quality and taste.
Today, the vineyards in the Romanovo region are managed by Basarabia-Lwin Invest SRL. The BASAVIN winery also manages neighboring vineyards, including the villages of Abaclia, Bashkalia, Cimislia, Cioc-Maidan, and Izerlia.
The vineyards are located at 150-250 meters above sea level. They receive approximately 2,500 hours of sunshine annually and receive 350-500 mm of precipitation. All this creates favorable conditions for grape growing.
Via Veliu Vineyards

Situated in the Stefan Voda wine region, our team strives to give each of our wines a sense of place.
The grapes from the Via Veliu vineyard are unique thanks to the perfect combination of all the factors that influence the growth of the healthiest and highest quality grapes: black soil and meadows that are carbonated with sandy areas, a moderate continental climate with the mild influence of the Black Sea (75 km) and plenty of sun, which makes everything possible.
The BASAVIN Winery process begins with viticulture, where the most important winemaking decision is the selection of ripe, pure, and delicious fruit. Our own BASAVIN vineyards consist of 250 hectares of certified organic Sauvignon, Muscat, Pinot Gigio, Feteasca Alba, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Feteasca Neagra, and Albernet grapes. Working with our vineyard management team, we produce wines with the finest fruit.
We hope that when you open a bottle of BASAVIN wine, you will enjoy the nuances of the various microclimates and complex geographic areas from which our grapes are born.
Winery

A daily dedication to winemaking
In 1969, the Romanovsky Winery was restored. This winery served as the foundation for the current winery, which has preserved old traditions while combining experience with new wine-processing technologies.
Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, the viticulture and winemaking industries in the Republic of Moldova had to undergo complex structural changes. Despite these challenging times, the viticulture and winemaking industry in the Romanovo region managed to overcome these difficult times. Furthermore, the winery had to undergo changes that paved the way for its future development.
Today we can confidently say that BASAVIN Winery sets the quality standards for wine producers in the Republic of Moldova.
Guilt

BASAVIN Winery's wines are processed according to the "vendange manuelle" technology.
According to this technology, pig and healthy grapes are hand-picked, there is also strict control of the fermentation temperature, and then the wine is matured in oak barrels.
The vintage begins early in the morning (between 5 and 11 a.m.) to ensure the grapes are cool and fresh until they arrive at the factory for careful processing. Once the grapes arrive, they undergo a manual selection process, which includes a two-stage sorting process to ensure ripe and healthy grapes are selected. Afterwards, the grapes are processed using the most renowned and professional equipment from France, the "Vaslin Boucher."
Knowing that Mother Nature presents us with a new set of challenges every year, we are always willing to adapt our winemaking techniques to ensure we obtain the purest expression from the vineyard and accurately represent the harvest in our wine. Every harvest is different. The same winemaking recipe doesn't work for every year or every fruit source.
Everything about these vines and wines is perfect: it starts with the correct loading of the crop onto the vine, namely with limiting the crop on each vine to obtain the best and healthiest grapes;
