Some monks were imprisoned, others left the monastery. Two abbots, Tarasius and Anthony, remained in Veveritsa, but died tragically under unknown circumstances around 1960.

The revival of the monastery began in 1993 , and in August 1994 the foundation of a new stone winter church was laid, and the abbot's quarters and monastic cells were built.
