The estate was built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and is located in the Orhei district.
The Baghdasarov family estate is a national monument. Until recently, it was in a severely dilapidated state and used as a warehouse for a local farm. Currently, the estate is privately owned. Businessman Tudor Veverița has taken on the restoration of the estate. He reportedly invested half a million lei in renovations in 2019, and needed another 2.5 million lei to complete the renovations. The businessman's vision was to transform the estate into a tourist destination, offering overnight accommodations.
The Baghdasarovs are said to have arrived in Bessarabia from Turkey at the same time as Manuk Bey. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was a typical noble estate, including poultry farms, piggeries, cowsheds, vineyards, and orchards. The estate grounds were quite extensive, with various outbuildings, a winery behind the house, and a lake in front. The boyar also had a garage for cars and tractors and a mini-electric power station. After 1944, the estate was used for a time as a prison, then transferred to the "Sergey Lazo" collective farm. It housed the collective farm's farms and a grain barn, and the kitchen, attached to the central building, is still used as a tractor crew's quarters. After 1990, the grandchildren of the landowner Baghdasarov came from Odessa to see what remained of the family estate.
The village of Piatra is located 56 km from Chisinau. Founded in 1530, it is located on the left bank of the Raut River, near a ford called Vadul Petrei.
Piatra is an ancient village where the craft of artistic stonework has been developed since ancient times. Many beautifully carved stone crosses, decorated with folk motifs, have survived to this day. Stone columns painted in bright colors were a traditional architectural element of peasant homes. At the end of the 19th century, the village belonged to the Lazo family. The Lazo family estate remains the village's main landmark.
Incidentally, the Bagdasarov family also owned a house in the center of Chisinau, a famous mansion located at 15 31 August Street, one of two "Gothic" twins.
