Moldova is a truly amazing country, full of surprises and unexpected possibilities. Traveling the country's roads, you can be sure to discover something new, unusual, interesting, and beautiful. Often, these discoveries are completely unexpected, and almost always pleasant. Just leave the main road and take a look around.

So, having reached the final point of our excursion, i.e. the village of Molovata Veke, we drove and walked along the shore of the reservoir to the rocky massif towering on its southeastern side, and discovered two remarkably beautiful gorges.

One is right on the outskirts of the village of Molovata Veche, and the other is about 1.5-2 km away, near the village of Mărcăuţi. It was the latter that was particularly impressive. But first things first.

Right behind the village begins a rocky ridge that surrounds most of the reservoir at this location. Immediately beyond the village, it is cut through by a shallow but fairly wide gorge.

Where it ends, near the shore, there's a well-equipped spring with a rest area and very good water. Just beyond it, a road begins up the mountain, along a gorge, leading to the top of a rocky ridge, offering a spectacular view of the reservoir and two villages: Old Molovata, on the right bank, and New Molovata, on the left bank.

If you continue along the road, right along the edge of a beautiful field of blooming sunflowers, you will soon find yourself on the steep slopes of the second gorge, on the outskirts of the village of Mărcăuţi.

This gorge is deeper but shorter than the first and very picturesque, especially its right slope, through which water seeps and is therefore densely overgrown in places with ivy and moss. And at its very top, a two-stage waterfall cascades.

The gorge's outlet is located just opposite the village of Molovata on the left bank of the Dniester, and from here the entire right arm of the reservoir is visible. You can see this in the first video. Climbing higher along the left slope of the gorge, which is approximately 350-400 meters long, we reach the outskirts of the village of Mărcăuţi.

Here we find another spring, also with delicious and good water. Descending into the gorge, in its upper, gentle section, we reach a waterfall, and from here, the most impressive view of the reservoir and its left bank, with the village of Molovata Nouă, opens up. It's an absolutely unforgettable sight, and we hope the photographs will give you a sense of it.
